Our Founder, Zekai
Zekai met Benji in Grade 11 as a struggling student with a GPA of 2.3 and a TOEFL score of just 23. He lacked motivation, often skipped class, and had no clear academic direction. But with the right structure, belief, and long-term mentorship, he began to change.
Over two years, he raised his TOEFL score to 85, improved his GPA to 3.6, and gained admission to both Penn State University and University of Florida. More importantly, he developed the mindset, discipline, and maturity that would later lead him to co-found Lucky Bay Suzhou — where he now supports students facing the same challenges he once overcame.
Jerry
Jerry joined Lucky Bay in Grade 11 with strong ability in physics and math, but weaker performance in other IB subjects, an IELTS score of 6.5, and an overall academic profile below the average for top university offers. Quiet and thoughtful, he struggled to express complex ideas clearly in English — but his intellectual depth and consistency stood out.
Through targeted mentoring and careful application strategy, Jerry refined his personal statement, practiced interviews, and built a case that emphasized subject strength and personal growth. He was invited to interview at Oxford, received an offer from Imperial College London, and was also admitted to a top science university in France — a testament to what’s possible with calm guidance and strategic positioning.

Kevin faced significant academic challenges, with predicted grades and test scores below the standard entry requirements for his target universities. He was interested in business and math, but lacked clarity and confidence — and was unsure how to stand out.
Through Lucky Bay’s Strategy Application Program, Benji helped Kevin identify sports management as a subject that aligned perfectly with his academic strengths and personal interests. With targeted support, Kevin developed a focused application strategy, rewrote his essays to emphasize personal growth, and built a credible narrative that tied together his academic path and real-world motivation.
He ultimately received an offer from the University of Edinburgh, issued below the standard entry requirements — a strong endorsement of the depth, honesty, and coherence of his application. Kevin’s case is proof that thoughtful repositioning and personal storytelling can unlock top-tier results, even when academic numbers fall short.

Yuqi

“Ruby”
Ruby began working with Lucky Bay in Grade 10. She had strong academic potential and a deep interest in social issues, particularly gender and equality — but struggled with confidence and clarity when it came to expressing herself in writing or interviews.
Under Tina’s guidance, Ruby began exploring her interests through real-world action. She launched her own YouTube channel to share perspectives on feminism and student life, and used that experience to build a distinct, values-driven personal brand. Benji later worked with her on her application essays, helping her shape a compelling narrative that linked her passions to economics, policy, and social impact.
Ruby was ultimately admitted to UC Davis, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), and several other competitive U.S. universities. Her journey highlights the power of starting early — and how quiet students can grow into powerful applicants when given the right structure and encouragement.

Eason
Eason was a public middle school student with limited exposure to international education and no clear sense of future direction. Through Lucky Bay’s Personalized Plan service, he received long-term mentorship and planning support from Julie and Benji — including guided exploration of school systems, activity recommendations, and one-on-one coaching.
After a year of structured background development and application guidance, Eason was successfully admitted to UWC, one of the world’s most respected international education programs.
